Install Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for Galaxy S2 GT-I9100P

Not a while Samsung pushed the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for international variant of Galaxy S2 that features model number GT-I9100 and now it’s also available for the Galaxy S2 GT-I9100P, this update comes with so many new features such as new Galaxy S3 UI, TouchWiz Nature UX, Samsung’s S Cloud services, improved camera, new lockscreen, Direct Call, Smart Stay and Pop-up Play, Google Now and more. Performance of phone is now very smooth as Samsung has improved stability.

Pick up phone check update through OTA (over the air) from Setting>About Phone>Software update or update phone using Samsung KIES. However it’s not available for all countries as for and will hopefully arrive to all countries soon in near future but if you can’t wait or not able to use Samsung KIES and OTA, simply download and install the update using Odin manually.

This guide shows you how to update Galaxy S2 GT-I9100P to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean XXLSK firmware, use a Windows PC with USB driver installed, you can Samsung KIES to install drivers but disable KIES before installation as it may disturb installation. Backup everything because the below procedure may wipe data especially if you’re on custom ROM, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean I9100PXXLSK firmware for Galaxy S2 from here to your PC (I9100PXXLSK_I9100PTIMLSK_TIM.zip).

Step #2: Download Odin3 v3.04 (Odin3_v3.04.zip) to your PC.

Step #3: Unzip both downloaded zip files into a folder.

Step #4: Open the folder where you’ve unzipped above file and run Odin3 v3.04.exe.

Step #5: Turn the device off.

Step #6: Reboot the device into download mode, to do so reboot device by holding down Volume Down, Home and Power buttons until a warning screen show up on device, then press the volume up button to enter into download mode.

Step #7: Once you’re in download mode plug the device to PC using USB cable. Odin will detect the device, ID:COM will turn yellow and a message saying ADDED will appear. (Note: If Odin doesn’t detect the device, make sure that USB drivers are properly installed on your computer).

Step #8: Click on PDA Button and locate I9100PXXLSK_I9100PTIMLSK_TIM.tar.md5 from the folder where you’ve unzipped above files in the step 2. (Note: Don’t make any change, just make sure that re-partition is unchecked).

Step #9: Click on Start button to start installation, once the installation done, your device will reboot itself and you’ll see message saying PASS (Note: If Odin refuse to install the update and show message FAIL, or get stuck, close the Odin and unplug device, then pull out battery from the device for a few seconds. Then put the battery back to the device and reboot into download mode. Then install the firmware again).

Step #10: If your device reboot into normal mode, you’re done, enjoy! But if you device gets stuck at boot screen, you need to perform wipe, to do so, turn off device, then reboot into recovery mode by holding down volume up, home and power buttons, when screen turns on, leave power button but not volume down until you enter in recovery mode. In recovery mode, select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen. Once it done, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now” to reboot the device.
