Install Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus – Guide

Do you own a Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus P6200? Well! The wait for Jelly Bean is finally over now as Samsung is pushing out the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, JB update bumps up so many new features including a smooth interface, Google Now app, keyboard with offline voice support, resizable widgets and more.

Galaxy Tab Plus Jelly Bean update is currently available in just Austria and will hopefully hit other countries soon in near future. However if you can’t wait for update or can’t update tablet using KIES and OTA notifications, simply download and install it manually via Odin.

This guide shows you how to update Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean P6200XXMC3 firmware using Odin. You need a Windows PC with USB drivers installed, use Samsung KIES to install drivers but disable it before installation because it may disturb manual installation.

Be sure to backup everything because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use the carbon Android app to backup apps and data, though the APN setting automatically restored from network, it make mobile date work, but if it doesn’t happen to you, restore it manually, you can use APN app to do so.

Instructions

Step #1: Download the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean P6200XXMC3 firmware for Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus from here [File Name: P6200XXMC3_P6200OXAMC3_ATO.zip].

Step #2: Download Odin3 v3.04 from here.

Step #3: Unzip both files and run Odin3 v3.04.exe.

Step #4: Turn the device off. Once the tablet is completely switched off, reboot tablet by holding down volume down and power buttons.

Step #5: Once you’re in download mode plug the device to PC using USB cable. Odin will detect the device, ID:COM will turn yellow and a message saying ADDED will appear. (Note: If Odin doesn’t detect the device, make sure that USB drivers are properly installed on your computer).

Step #6: Click on PDA Button and locate P6200XXMC3_P6200OXAMC3_ATO_HOME.tar.md5 from the folder where you’ve unzipped above files in the step 3. (Note: Don’t make any change, just make sure that re-partition is unchecked).

Step #7: Click on Start button to start installation, once the installation done, your device will reboot itself and you’ll see message saying PASS (Note: If Odin refuse to install the update and show message FAIL, or get stuck, close the Odin and unplug device, then put in download mode and try again).

Step #8: If your device reboot into normal mode, you’re done, enjoy! But if you device gets stuck at boot screen, you need to perform wipe, to do so, turn off device, then reboot into recovery mode by holding down volume up and power buttons, when screen turns on, leave power button but not volume down until you enter in recovery mode. In recovery mode, select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen. Once it done, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now” to reboot tablet.

That’s it, you’re done, the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update is now installed on your Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus GT-P6200, if you experience any error during installation, leave a comment below.
