Not a while ago international variant of Samsung Galaxy S2 received the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update officially from Samsung and now carriers are also paying attention on the phone as the Sprint Galaxy S2 is now also receiving the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean that is available on Samsung KIES having build number GB27.
However if you’re not able to update Samsung EPIC 4G Touch to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean using KIES, simply download and install it manually using Odin, here’s guide to learn how to update Epic 4G Touch to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean via Odin.
Use a Windows PC with USB phone drivers installed, you can use Samsung KIES to install drivers but before installation disable KIES because it may disturb the installation. Backup everything you want because below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use the carbon Android app to backup apps and data.

Instructions
Step #1: Download Android 4.1.2 update for Samsung Epic 4G Touch from here or here [File Name: D710USGB27_D710USGB27_SPR.zip].
Step #2: Download Odin3 v3.04 from here to your PC.
Step #3: Unzip both downloaded zip files into a folder.
Step #4: Open the folder where you’ve unzipped above file and run Odin3 v3.04.exe.
Step #5: Turn the device off.
Step #6: Reboot the device into download mode, to do so reboot phone by holding down volume down and power buttons until a warning appear, then press the volume up button to enter in download mode.
Step #7: Once you’re in download mode plug the device to PC using USB cable. Odin will detect the device, ID:COM will turn yellow and a message saying ADDED will appear. (Note: If Odin doesn’t detect the device, make sure that USB drivers are properly installed on your computer).
Step #8: Click on PDA Button and locate KIES_HOME_SPH-D710.GB27_D710SPRLS1_1014481_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5 from the folder where you’ve unzipped above files in the step 3. (Note: Don’t make any change, just make sure that re-partition is unchecked).
Step #9: Click on Start button to start installation, once the installation done, your device will reboot itself and you’ll see message saying PASS (Note: If Odin refuse to install the update and show message FAIL, or get stuck, close the Odin and unplug device, then pull out battery from the device for a few seconds. Then put the battery back to the device and reboot into download mode. Then install the firmware again).
Step #10: If your device reboot into normal mode, you’re done, enjoy! But if you device gets stuck at boot screen, you need to perform wipe, to do so, turn off device, then reboot into recovery mode by holding down volume up and power buttons until you enter in recovery mode. In recovery mode, select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen. Once it done, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now” to reboot phone.
