The Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 GT-I8160 is finally receiving the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update officially, I can remember that it was leaked about a month ago but it’s being rolled out officially through OTA and Samsung KIES. The new Galax Ace 2 Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update carry the build number I8160XXMC8.
The Android 4.1.2 update for Galaxy Ace 2 is rolling out in phases, so it may not available in your country and it’ll arrive soon, however if you can’t wait, simply download and install the update manually using Odin.
This guide shows you how to install Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean XXMC8 firmware on Galaxy Ace 2 I8160XXMC8 manually using Odin. You need a Windows PC and make sure USB phone drivers are installed on PC, you can use Samsung KIES to install drivers but before installation, disable it as it can disturb installation.
Be sure to backup everything of your phone because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use the carbon Android app to backup apps and data.

Instructions
Step #1: Download the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for Galaxy Ace 2 from here [File Name: I8160XXMC8_I8160TMNMC3_TMN.zip].
Step #2: Download Odin3 v3.04 from here to your PC.
Step #3: Unzip both downloaded zip files into a folder on PC.
Step #4: Open the folder where you’ve unzipped above file and run Odin3 v3.04.exe.
Step #5: Turn the device off.
Step #6: Reboot the device into download mode by holding down volume down, home and power buttons.
Step #7: Once you’re in download mode plug the device to PC using USB cable. Odin will detect the device, ID:COM will turn yellow and a message saying ADDED will appear. (Note: If Odin doesn’t detect the device, make sure that USB drivers are properly installed on your computer).
Step #8: Click on PDA Button and locate I8160XXMC8_I8160TMNMC3_TMN _HOME.tar.md5 from the folder where you’ve unzipped above files in the step 3. (Note: Don’t make any change, just make sure that re-partition is unchecked).
Step #9: Click on Start button to start installation, once the installation done, your device will reboot itself and you’ll see message saying PASS (Note: If Odin refuse to install the update and show message FAIL, or get stuck, close the Odin and unplug device, then pull out battery from the device for a few seconds. Then put the battery back to the device and reboot into download mode. Then install the firmware again).
Step #10: If your device reboot into normal mode, you’re done, enjoy! But if you device gets stuck at boot screen, you need to perform wipe, to do so, turn off device, then reboot into recovery mode by holding down volume up, home and power buttons, in recovery mode, select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen. Once it done, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now” to reboot the phone.
