How To Root the HTC First – Guide

The HTC First is a nice package of Facebook tools as it comes with Facebook Home launcher out of box that allows you to access all of your favorite apps right on one place, it’s a simple mid-range phone but packs decent specs and features, the smartphone offers impressive customization. Even now you can improve usability of phone a bit more as Android development community is making way to phone like you’re able to root the phone easily, thanks to recognized XDA developer Flyhalf205.

It sounds very good because so many people love to have super user rights on their Android devices through root access, however it’s really important to note that rooting voids warranty of your phone, this guide shows you how to root HTC First.

Ensure bootloader is unlocked and a custom recovery is installed, check this guide to unlock bootloader and this guide to install ClockworkMod recovery or this guide to install TWRP Recovery.

Instructions

Step #1: Turn off your HTC First and reboot into recovery mode by holding down volume up and power buttons, in recovery mode create nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything goes wrong, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again, if you’re on TWRP recovery, click on “backup” and slide the blue button to confirm the action.

Step #2: Download Root Package for HTC First from here (Super User) or here (SuperSU).

Step #3: Copy the zip file to internal storage of your HTC First.

Step #4: Turn your HTC One off.

Step #5: Reboot phone into recovery mode, to do this reboot phone by holding down volume down and power buttons.

Step #6: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” and locate the downloaded zip file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation.

Step #7: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.”
