T-Mobile variant of Samsung Galaxy S2 has been added to the list of Jelly Bean devices as T-Mobile is now rolling out the Android 4.1.2 Jelly bean update for Galaxy S2 T989 officially that contains firmware version T989UVMC6 and it comes with a lot of pre-loaded features including smooth interface, stability is great now.
The interface has been replaced with Galaxy Note 2 UI, now you have Samsung’s S Cloud services, this update improves camera features, lockscreen, home screen modes and notification bar even it brings so many new features such as Google Now, Direct Call, Smart Stay and Pop-up Play.
Here’s OTA T989UVMC6 firmware for manual installation, it’s helpful for those of you who can’t update devices with official resources due to any reason like if you’re on any custom ROM.
This guide shows you how to update T-Mobile Galaxy S2 to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean T989UVMC6 firmware. Use a Windows PC with phone USB driver installed, you can use Samsung KIES to install drivers but disable it before installation because it may disturb installation. Backup everything because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use the carbon Android app to backup apps and data.

Instructions
Step #1: Download the T-Mobile Galaxy S2 Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update T989UVMC6 firmware from here or here (File Name: T989UVMC6_T989TMBMC6_TMB.zip).
Step #2: Unzip the downloaded T989UVLH1_T989TMBLH1_TMB.zip file into a folder, you’ll get T989UVLH1_T989TMBLH1_T989UVLH1_HOME.tar.md5 file.
Step #3: Download Odin3 v1.83.exe to your phone, it will be used to install the firmware.
Step #4: Run the download Odin3 v1.83.exe file.
Step #5: Turn the device off.
Step #6: Reboot the device into download mode, to do so, plug the USB cable to phone but not to PC, then reboot phone by holding down volume down and volume up buttons while plugging the USB cable to PC, on you see download screen with Android logo on phone, leave both buttons.
Step #7: Odin will detect the device, ID:COM will turn yellow and a message saying ADDED will appear. (Note: If Odin doesn’t detect the device, make sure that USB drivers are properly installed on your computer). Click on PDA Button and locate T989UVMC6_T989TMB_T989UVMC6_HOME.tar.md5 that you’ve obtained in the step 2. (Note: Don’t make any change, just make sure that re-partition is unchecked).
Step #8: Click on Start button to start installation, once the installation done, your device will reboot itself and you’ll see message saying PASS (Note: If Odin refuse to install the update and show message FAIL, or get stuck, close the Odin and unplug device, then pull out battery from the device for a few seconds. Then put the battery back to the device and reboot into download mode. Then install the firmware again.
Step #9: If your phone boots up properly in normal mode, you’re done, unplug the phone from PC but if it gets stuck at booting or boots in 3e recovery (screen with black background), you have to perform wipe, to do so, turn off phone and reboot into recovery mode by holding down volume down, volume up and power buttons until screen turns on. Once you’re in recovery mode, select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen. After wiping the device, return to the main menu and reboot phone, to do so, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now.”
