How To Install TWRP Recovery for Sony Xperia Z

The TWRP recovery is, finally, available for the Sony Xperia Z smartphone, the TWRP recovery has become very popular because of impressive features as it’s not limited to just installation custom ROMs and nandroid backups but also includes inbuilt file manager, theme engine, and more, even you can install it on Xperia Z without unlocking the bootloader, thanks to senior XDA developer Cpasjuste.

This guide shows you how to install TWRP recovery for Xperia Z, the method is piece of cake as you just needs to install an Android app containing TWRP recovery file and you’re done. However the app requires root access, so check out this guide to root the phone first.

Instructions

Step #1: Download XZRecovery App APK and copy the file to your phone.

Step #2: Go to Setting>Security and there enable “unknown resources”.

Step #3: Locate the APK file you just copied to your phone.

Step #4: Tap on the file and start installation.

Step #5: Launch the XZRecovery app.

Step #6: If app ask for root access, allow it the access.

Step #7: Tap on “Install Recovery” button to start installation of TWRP recovery.

Step #8: Once the TWRP recovery is installed on the phone, reboot phone.

That’s it, you’re done, the TWRP recovery is now installed on your phone, you can enter in recovery mode using the XZRecovery app. It’s important to note that, whenever you install any custom ROM using TWRP, it will remove the recovery from phone and you need to use the XZRecovery app again to install recovery.
