Recently Google bumped up the original Nexus 7 with latest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean version containing build number JWR66V that brought a very good package of decent features to improve the Android’s lifestyle. Those of you who are still not satisfied with that and looking for root access to hit tweaks on tablets to enjoy more fun, here you can fulfill the wish.
The below guide walks you through how to root Nexus 7 running Android 4.3 JWR66V build. Make sure you have unlocked bootloader and a custom recovery installed on your tablet, you can unlock bootloader here and install the ClockworkMod recovery here (CWM is not recommended but you may give try at your own risk) or install TWRP recovery here (TWRP is recommended).

Instructions
Step #1: Download the Nexus 7 Android 4.3 JWR66V Root package from here.
Step #2: Transfer the downloaded file to your tablet.
Step #3: Turn the device off.
Step #4: Reboot the device into recovery mode by holding down volume up, home and power buttons.
Step #5: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything goes wrong, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again, if you’re on TWRP recovery, click on “backup” and slide the blue button to confirm the action.
Step #6: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” or select “install” for TWRP and locate the downloaded file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation of rooting.
Step #7: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now” to reboot your Nexus 7.
