The HTC First is a mid-range smartphone but enjoys very good quality specifications, the cute 4.3-inch HTC first drives Android Jelly Bean with Facebook Home that is a simple and clean platform to showcase your contents of Facebook. I can remember a lot of rumors for Facebook phone, the HTC first is still not manufactured by Facebook but it seems a real Facebook smartphone.
When this new socialite piece comes to modification though custom ROMs, tweaks and other hacks, as always, it requires an unlocked bootloader that is possible via HTC Developer Center, it will remove limitations of HTC on your phone to give you full control over your phone but here the very important point to be noted is that unlocking bootloader will void the warranty of your HTC first permanently that force you think and of course it should, if you’re careful about that, however if you can afford this loss, here’s HTC First Bootloader Unlock guide.
This guide shows you how to unlock bootloader of HTC First, it’s really important to backup everything you care about because unlocking bootloader will wipe your phone data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use the carbon Android app to backup apps and data.

Instructions
Step #1: Download the fastboot package to your PC.
Step #2: Unzip the downloaded fastboot.zip file into C drive.
Step #3: Head over to official HTC Unlock Bootloader page.
Step #4: Log in if you already have an account or create a new account by clicking on “register” button.
Step #5: Once you’re logged in with HTC, open unlock bootloader page here.
Step #6: There you may see a drop down menu “all other supported models”, select it and then click on “begin unlock bootloader” page. It will show up a warning, read it carefully and then click on “yes” button.
Step #7: Accept legal terms when it ask and click on “proceed to unlock instructions” button.
Step #8: There are four steps to follow that we’re explaining in simple words:
Make sure phone is not connected with PC and turn it off. Then reboot phone by holding down volume down and power button until you enter in bootloader mode, then use volume keys to highlight and select fastboot menu using power button. Once you’re in fastboot mode, plug phone to PC using USB cable.
Step #9: Head over to second page on unlock bootloader site by clicking on “proceed to step 5” button.
Step #10: There, don’t follow anything. Instead of following anything on second page, open up the fastboot folder you have unzipped at C drive in “Step #2”.
Step #11: Open up command prompt, you can find it under start menu>programs>accessories.
Step #12: Enter following command on command prompt to enter in fastboot folder:
c:\fastboot
Step #13: Now issue another command, it will generate the serial number of phone, if it doesn’t generate the serial number your phone is not connected with PC properly, make sure phone drivers are installed:
fastboot devices
Step #14: On the HTC developer site, click on “proceed to step 8” to open next page.
Step #15: There following everything the page ask and at the end click on “submit” button.
Step #16: They’ll show you “token submitted successfully” message on next page and send you unlock key through email.
Step #17: Log in to your mail account, check HTC mail and download “Unlock_code.bin” file that is attached with the mail.
Step #18: Place the “Unlock_code.bin” to the Fastboot folder in C drive.
Step #19: Issue following command on command prompt to unlock the bootloader:
fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
The above command will send a unlock bootloader request on phone, use volume keys to navigate and power key to confirm the request.
Step #20: Your phone will reboot and perform factory reset automatically.
Step #21: Unplug phone from PC.
