The Android 4.2.2 for Verizon Galaxy Nexus contains build number JDQ39.
This guide shows you how to install the Android 4.2.2 update for Verizon Galaxy Nexus. Keep in mind that your smartphone must be on stock, your phone should be on 4.1.1 (JRO03O). You can check your device detail from Setting>About Phone, don’t flash over any other build.

Method #1: Install via custom recovery
Step #1: Download the Android 4.2.2 update for Verizon Galaxy Nexus from here or here (mirror).
Step #2: Copy the zip file to your phone and turn it off.
Step #3: Reboot phone into recovery mode, to do so reboot phone by holding down volume up, volume down and power buttons, the device will reboot into fastboot mode, in fastboot mode, use volume keys to navigate and power button to select and select recovery option.
Step #4: Make backup of your current ROM, it’s important.
Step #5: Select “install” and install zip file you just copied to your phone.
Step #6: Go back and select “Reboot System Now” to reboot system.
Method #2: Install via ADB
Step #1: Use Windows PC and make sure Android ADB drivers are installed on your PC, you may follow our this guide to install them.
Step #2: Make sure USB drivers installed. You can download drivers from here.
Step #3: Download the Android 4.2.2 update for Verizon Galaxy Nexus from here or here (mirror) to your PC.
Step #4: Copy the downloaded zip file to C:\.
Step #5: Turn your phone off.
Step #6: Reboot your phone into recovery mode, to do so reboot phone by holding down volume up, volume down and power buttons, you’ll enter in fastboot mode, there use volume keys to navigate and power button to select. You need to select recovery option to enter in recovery mode.
Step #7: Here hold down the power button first, then press volume up button, it will open up the recovery menu, then select “apply update from adb”.
Step #8: Plug your phone to PC, it may ask for drivers installation, let them install.
Step #9: Open the command prompt, you can find it from start menu>programs>accessories.
Step #10: Enter following command, it will take you to fastboot folder:
cd c:
Step #11: Enter following command, it will deliver your Galaxy Nexus ID number, if it delivers, your phone is connected to PC properly. Otherwise make sure device drivers are installed properly.
adb devices
Step #12: Enter the following command to install the downloaded Android 4.2 OTA update .zip file, it will show up a sending side load message, after that it will start the installation:
adb sideload “file name”
Step #13: Once the installation is done, on your phone select “reboot system now” to reboot the phone.
