The Motorola Moto G has been receiving Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for many days in USA. The KitKat update brought a decent package of decent features such as the Moto X’s camera, touch less controls for PIN-locked device, etc.
However international users are still waiting for Android’s KitKat chocolate, but here’s Moto G Android 4.4 update for manual installation. If you cannot wait, give a try to flashable KitKat update zip file, thanks to XDA’s member josalaito. He has packed the official OTA into a zip file that you can flash through recovery like you flash other custom ROMs. If you are super user, you should go with this Android 4.4.2 KitKat update on Moto G using your favorite recovery. Keep in mind that since this is custom ROM, you may face bugs.
It’s compatible with GSM Moto G variant, so do not try on CDMA model. Make sure you have unlocked the bootloader of your phone. TWRP and CWM both are accepted. You should have latest version of recovery. Make a backup of your device data such as SMS, internet setting, contacts music files etc because the below procedure may wipe data, you can sync your contacts with Gmail account and for messages use SMS apps, lastly use file expert app to backup apps.

Instructions
Step #1: Download the Moto G Android 4.4 update ROM from official XDA’s thread and place the zip file to your phone.
Step #2: Turn the device off and reboot the device into recovery mode by holding down volume down and power buttons until enter in bootloader mode, there navigate in recovery mode.
Step #3: In recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your current ROM, it’s important because if anything not work out that you expect from this ROM, you’ll be able to easily revert back to your current state. To create backup select “Backup and Restore”, and then select “Backup” again, if you’re on TWRP recovery, click on “backup” and slide the blue button to confirm the action.
Step #4: In recovery mode, perform wipe, select the wipe data/factory reset, and confirm on the next screen.
Step #5: Return to main menu by selecting “Go Back”.
Step #6: Select “Install Zip from SD Card” then “Choose Zip from SD Card” or select “install” for TWRP and locate the downloaded file that you’ve transferred in above step and confirm installation.
Step #7: Once the installation is completed, select “Go Back” after that select “Reboot System Now” to reboot your Moto G.
