How To Install TWRP Recovery for new Nexus 7 [2013 version]

It seems that the latest guy behind ASUS 7 -inch Nexus series will see a massive development because it’s not been out completely yet in market and the new Nexus 7 is ready to face custom ROMs as TeamWin’s famous TWRP recovery has been released for the tab, it’s a good news for everyone especially for those are not a bit satisfied with the latest stock experience. We hope that new Nexus 7 will taste something different, so it’s worthy to give it a try to taste something special.

The below guide walks you through how to install TWRP recovery for new Nexus 7 2 (2013 version). Make sure you have unlocked bootloader and ADB drivers are installed on your PC, you can unlock bootloader here and install drivers here.

Instructions

Step #1: Download TWRP Recovery for new Nexus 7 from here.

Step #2: Download the Fastboot package to your PC.

Step #3: Unzip the downloaded fastboot package into C driver (C:\) to generate the fastboot folder.

Step #4: Copy the .img file you downloaded in first step into fastboot folder.

Step #5: Turn your Nexus 7 off.

Step #6: Reboot tablet in fastboot mode by holding down volume down, volume up and power buttons.

Step #7: Plug your new Nexus 7 to PC using a USB cable.

Step #8: Open command prompt, you can get it from Start Menu>Programs>Accessories.

Step #9: Type following command and press enter to navigate to fastboot folder:

cd C:\Fastboot

Step #10: Enter following command to start installation and confirm action (replace * with recovery name):

fastboot flash recovery *.img

Step #11: Once the recovery is installed on your tablet, enter following command to reboot:

fastboot reboot

Step #12: Unplug the tablet from PC.

That’s it, the TWRP recovery is now installed on your new Nexus 7, to experience the recovery mode reboot tablet in bootloader mode. If you experience any error, leave a comment.
